Top 7 Favorite Things

Here’s a list of the things that are bringing me joy in this season.

One: My espresso machine — oh my gosh, we’ve had this Breville for years now and she just does not disappoint. Every morning I deeply, deeply look forward to my salted maple latte. This is the model of the machine we have

Fun Fact: I drank my coffee black for yeaaaars until we got this machine, never even ordered lattes out. Now, I’m a latte brat. I’ll still get a black coffee when I’m taking myself out to a quality coffee roaster or house.

Two: Shaded Bloom Coffee — let’s just get the obnoxious obsession out of the way. Coffee, my last addiction. Alrighty, SB Coffee is local to Clarkston, MI. They are a family owned, small batch roasting company. Their beans are ethically and sustainably sourced with most of their roasts are organic as well. Plus they have the best swiss water decaf I’ve ever tasted. 10/10 & you can try them for yourself right here.

Three: The Brick — holy crap. If you are like me and have seriously done research on reverting back to a ‘dumb’ phone, look no further. The Brick has been a game changer in creating a more analog vibe with my smart phone. It has significantly helped with my unconscious habits of checking my phone and socials. Creating a more present rhythm in my day, working more towards the Mom I’d like to be.

Four: Oversized sweats > leggings — I’m not entirely sure when I started transitioning away from leggings as active wear, but my body feels grateful. I’m finding so much more comfort and confidence in a fun print or color sweatpants than the textural over stimulation I feel from polyester rubbing my legs all day.

Five: Creating Daily — whether it’s sitting down to write these posts, painting my walls new fun colors, making something out of snow and sticks, or moving my body on my yoga mat. Taking time to create something every single day has offered be an opportunity to create discipline in my schedule while also reminding me what is most important in my life.

Six: Muck Boot — I was gifted these boots about two or three years ago and they just work. They’re cute enough that I don’t mind wearing them to run to the gym or to the store. Layered with a pair of wool socks they’re warm enough for walking outside in our winter blusters. I love them all summer long and never feel too hot in them. Now I’ve been wearing them in the house while we work on renovating our back stairwell. The ‘good for everything’ boot.

Seven: My morning peace — I’ve started stacking my habits to get up earlier in the mornings and it really does shift the needle for my day. Something about having 20 minutes to myself before the rest of the house needs attention, creates a softness inside to actually be able to stay calm and focused as the day ebbs and flows.
