How do you determine it’s a project?
Is it by how many trips you make to Home Depot or when you run into something unexpected?
I think we’ve hit the nail on the head for our entryway. It’s official a home renovation project.
I didn’t really pay much mind to the fact that we hadn’t run into too many snags on our ‘finish the interior of the home by the end of the year’ conquest. And then we struck gold.
Our entryway section of the above conquest was a level up in terms of complexity as we are planning to add an upper shelf and floating bench to an area of the room. Complexity just dialed up a few more notches though!
Upon taking apart our windowsills, that weren’t done correctly, we ran into some water damage under one of our windows, womp womp. As Craig worked to expose more of the wall, we learned that the previous owners just covered up the wood rot instead of fixing it. A bummer, but more thankful that we discovered the issue instead of it turning into a scarier surprise later down the line.
So what’s next? Craig will chug away exposing more of the wall to see where we can tie new wood in to old, good wood. We’ll sheet the wall again and back to plan A. Painting and building that bench!
Project entryway is just reminding us of all the fun that makes a project, well, a project.

P.S. we’re only two Home Depot trips in on this project, one for paint the other for supplies to fix the wall.
