A moment for cliches

This past year I realized, very annoyingly, just how real cliches are.

Why are they so freaking true?!

Some weeks it felt like every conversation I was having was, “these really are the days” or “they grow up so fast”.

I would find myself pausing before saying the phrase, but no other hodgepodge of consonants and vowels, seemed to convey the emotion or reflection I was experiencing.

When I think about it, it makes sense. Why cliches are cliche. Because they’re true. The way I see it, cliches are the tiny portion of the venn diagram that overlaps us all. If you had a million little circles that represented everyones’ different lives and chapters, that small sliver of gray is where we’d all overlapped in a shared expereince.

Let’s just call it the Bermuda Clicheangle. Where an unexplained time warp occurs and our brains can come up with no other satisfactory way to explain a complex introspection, other than, repeating the most true and accurate slew of words that have been echoed for decades.

The cliche. Tried. True. A reflection of living a full life.
